raptor pro ltd 2013 (132*41)

Stephen Gale - 1/14/2013

I read the reviews on this board before i purchased it and i was a little skeptical about how reviewers on other sites raved about it. I rode it last weekend for the first time and am forced to say previous reviewers have definitely undersold the board!!!

I purchased the 132

To add perspective, good or bad, to this review, I was looking for a freeride board that would take me as far as i can go, however far that is at 44, 5'11" 170lbs and half way through my second season. I have been riding a 135*42 Cabrinha Rival till now on which i have pretty much dialed in my toeside, basic jump transitions, back loops, and load and pop to getting the board 3'-4' off the water. I had been more than happy with the rival till i unwrapped this monster. so lets start there.

It arrived well wrapped with all the parts and the board rails in particular well protected. Putting it together was a breeze pay attention to getting all the logos lined up and the same way up and 10 minutes with a screwdriver and your good to go. When you see it in the sun for the first time it really does look pretty hot.

SO how did it ride - well we were struggling a little with wind on the day gusty between 12-16mph on a 11m Switchblade. Had to work the kite a little to get some apparent wind going but then the board just took off. And this is odd but the first thing i noticed was a complete lack of noise from the board, i'm not sure if it was the double concave or the razor fins but this thing just ran silent as it sliced through the water. Slicing is the right word its like the water just parts around it as you glide on, even in marginal conditions going upwind was no issue and the level of control possible was enlightening. I didn't get a chance to really try the pop but i have no doubt its going to be Just as great as the rest of the boards performance. Carving from heel to toeside was a joy.

One area i was concerned about was the pads as i had read some did not like them. We are all different but i can say from the moment i slid my size 9 feet into the straps it felt like i was one with the board, it felt glued on, cant wait for a good 20+knts and some chop to give it a proper work out.

It is a fair chunk of change but i cant imagine anybody looking for a good free ride board being anything less than extatic with the Raptor pro ltd, in the opinion of this improving kiter awesome doesn't do it justice.
