HQ Rush IV Pro-350

JDJ - 10/20/2012

I found myself away from the water for a couple months and so I ordered the HQ Rush Pro 350 version to play around with so I wouldn't be tempted to fly an inflatable to get my kite fix.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how much fun I've had with this kite. I have had it flying in very light barely perceivable winds up to around 20mph(ish) winds.

In the stronger winds this kite is a handful. The pull in higher winds is....significant. If you are using this as a trainer for someone that isn't familiar with kites I would go for either the smaller size kite or stay away from stronger winds as the danger of a face plant is definitely there with the kite. I've had it on the third line more than once when a good gust caught the kite while I was pulling it through the power band.

In lighter winds the kite is super easy to fly and very well behaved. I've been playing around with just how little wind I need to fly it. The answer for me is not much wind at all. If the tree branches are moving this thing will fly.

I've been very happy with the kite. The construction is solid, setup and pack away for foils is crazy easy, and there is plenty of pull to keep things interesting while having the security of the third line for when things get a bit too interesting.

Bottom line, this is a great kite and the only thing keeping it from 5 stars is there isn't a loop to hook into a harness.
